Ads stay active for 60 days. After that, they expire automatically. You can renew your ad from your dashboard at any time before or after it expires.

Yes. Log into your account and go to your dashboard. You can edit any of your active ads, update photos, change the rent amount, or modify your preferences.
How many photos can I upload?
You can upload up to 8 photos per listing. The first photo becomes the thumbnail that appears in search results. We accept JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP formats, up to 5MB each.
What information should I include in my ad?
Include the monthly rent, room type, location, available date, and a detailed description of the space and what you are looking for in a roommate. Ads with photos get significantly more responses than those without.

RoommateAds is primarily designed for people offering rooms, but you can post a "room wanted" ad by selecting the appropriate option and describing what you are looking for in your description.
Cost & Rent
How much does a roommate cost on average?
Average rent varies widely by location. In major cities like New York or San Francisco, shared rooms can cost $1,000 to $2,000 per month. In smaller towns, you can find private rooms for $400 to $800 per month. Use our search filters to find rooms in your budget.
What is usually included in the rent?
It depends on the listing. Some rooms include utilities, WiFi, and laundry. Others are rent only. Each listing specifies what is included under the "Rent Includes" field. Always confirm with the poster before committing.
Should I pay a deposit?
Most roommate situations require a security deposit, typically equal to one month of rent. Never wire money or pay a deposit before visiting the property in person and meeting the current tenants.
